Penestanan is also home to the most skilful bead-workers on the island, adorning an amazing array of items – from shoes and handbags to baskets, belts, caps, earrings and bracelets – with hundreds of painstakingly strung beads. Their work is on sale in shops in Penestanan and across Bali.
However Penestanan is famous not just by the art and but also beautiful view of the rice terraces and river gorges. This picturesque panorama attract many foreigners and local to build residence here. You can enjoy the beautiful views, clean air and rustic village atmosphere by soft tracking among the rice fields and along the river. Having a stroll down the alley of Penestanan is also an interesting thing to do, you can see scores of painters and bead-workers at work, browse dozen painting and bead galleries, submerge in the daily life of Balinese or having a small talk with the locals.
